Jason Isbell Alpharetta Concert reviews
Love Wilco, Hate Roy Wilkins!
Despite various struggles with addiction and depression, Jeff Tweedy is a dedicated artist with an understated ego, and they happen to know how to write a decent hook when they feel like it. They are one of the most innovative and risk-taking bands around, and I have been a huge Jason Isbell fan for about 12 years.
However, I think the band also ended too many songs with a sort of "wall of sound," so part of this is on Wilco. I found the sound at Roy Wilkins ridiculous. It didn't sound like Wilco, was muddy, way too loud, and even so, the quality of the system and the levels were way over the top. I brought a friend to see Wilco for the first time - he happens to be a sound engineer - and he agreed about how bad the sound was.
